Startrek Online is an upcoming MMORPG which will take place in Startrek universe. It was first announced quite a while ago, in 2004. Meanwhile Perpetual Entertainment that was developing the game went bankrupt in 2008. Cryptic Studios picked it up and Atari put the game in their financial report expecting a release date by March 31, 2010.

In the game you will become a spaceship captain with few predefined races, Human, Klingon, Vulcan, Orion and Gorn. They also promised a race editor where you can create your own race. We will see many different ships that are flyable and all sorts of activities from space combat to various away missions on distant planets, everything from PvP to PvE.

Screen shots do look promising, so we are wondering if  Star Trek Online can become something that will measure up to Eve Online?

I am someone who at first really, and I mean really, disliked Fantasy Role Playing games. I was more into tactics and strategy, no, not the real time strategies, since they didn’t exist at that time, but something more like Laser Squad or Deuteros. Somewhere in 1994 I was introduced to Ravenloft: Strahd’s Possession published by SSI. It was an all-nighter  for me and the next day I didn’t go to school, I had to finish the game and beat Strahd in the final battle. I did it. Then I obtained all releases if Eye of the beholder and I was hooked.
