Three Wise Men

Just a couple of days ago it was announced that 25th anniversary of BattleTech will be accompanied by MechWarrior 4 being available for free download. Apparently this is not the only anniversary being honored by a free game. Bethesda Softworks announced that 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls will be accompanied by a free download of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. The Elder Scrolls I was already available for download for five years since 10th anniversary of the series. Now you can download first and second part in the download section of elderscrolls.com.

So in 5 years we’re getting Elder Scrolls 3? :)

MekTek  reports that just recently IGN released reveal trailer of a new MechWarrior. It is not going to be a Mech Warrior 5, but a plain MechWarrior. They decided to reboot the franchise. Last MechWarrior game was released in 2002 and ever since BattleTech and MechWarrior fans were craving for something new. It appears that craving will get stronger and stronger. No release dates yet, but a lot of promises. Make sure you keep your fingers crossed for a MechWarrior game that can fully exploit the potential of a modern hardware.

The story is again about a bunch of giant walking robots with a small nuclear reactor on their backs and a lot of firepower and armor. You will be playing the role of a MechWarrior that has a lot of talent but lacks discipline and you will be faced with the beginning of a war. The story is placed in a year 3015 when mechs were scarce and valuable and you will have to work hard to keep yours up and running. There are promises of co-op games and even multiplayer games. Let’s wait and see if Unreal 3 engine manages to deliver, the trailer does look awesome.

In the other news: BattleTech will be celebrating 25th anniversary and to honor that Smith & Tinker will be releasing MechWarrior 4 and all its expansion pack for free.
