The future of Kazam Screencaster

Work on Kazam came to a grinding halt. Well, almost. I’ve been pretty busy with various other projects and (surprisingly) social life, so Kazam was sidetracked for quite a while. But, fear not. I am determined to get back on track with the development. Bug fixes and other changes will start to trickle in soon.

The main objective is to get rid of a few really annoying bugs and finally plug that mysterious memory leak that keeps appearing and disappearing.

In short: the future is bright.  Not too that bright, so you can keep those hipster, plastic shades in the inside pocket of your trench coat.

thrilled to hear it! Screencasting has long been a thorn in the side of Linux that no one got quite right until Kazam came along (and this from a KDE guy). The only thing that held me back from Kazam was some of the bugs that I came across even trying different versions. Knowing that things like this will be addressed will surely make Kazam the powerful, yet intuitive screencasting tool that Linux needs.

    Thank you!

  • Hi, First, thanks for your efforts. I did as you said to install kazam. I got the following errors:

  • I have an idea for the future of kazam screencaster.

Add watermark feature, so the people can record the video with watermark without editing. Watermark just invisible when recording, but appear on saved videos.

I think, it will be greats!

anyway, thank you so much fot this software, worked on my Ubuntu machine!

Kazam works fine in Ubuntu 13.04 (64-bit).

I cleanly installed Ubuntu 13.10 (64-bit) a few days ago and now Kazam does not work. It crashes and does not record. I’m upset now. Kazam is a good screencasting app.

Should I downgrade to Ubuntu 13.04 or will Kazam be fixed and delivered with future Ubuntu (13.10) updates? I find Ubuntu 13.10 is faster, but a broken Kazam is bad; I can’t record any game footage now. :'(
