Review: Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game
It has been a while since I bought a board game and this had to change. I had three main rules to follow while considering which game to buy.
- No dice – throwing dice takes time and it’s too random for my taste
- Advanced game play – I didn’t want a family game, I wanted something complex, but not too complex
- Weight of the box – rule of thumb which can indicate game complexity and lots of pretty stuff in the box
The fourth rule, well more of a guideline, was that the game had to be set in the future. I’ve been playing all sorts of games for quite some time (video and board games) and I am fed up with medieval stuff. I like tech! Lasers and space ships. In the end, Sid Meier’s Civilization was my pick. Being a fan of Sid Meier’s Civilization for a long time I didn’t want to get my hopes up too soon and my expectations were mediocre at best.
